Rev Christian Wenz

(September 21, 1823 - February 8, 1892)

Cabinet maker. Came to America in 1846. First to Philadelphia then to Galena Illinois. Entered into the ministry of Methodist Episcopal Church in 1850. Married Maria Kreinbill in Chicago Ill on 1 Sept 1851. A son Titus N was born 28 June 1853 at Watertown Wisc. Maria died 24 Sept18 1853 and the son died 28 Nov 1853 in East Troy Wisc. Christian Wenz served as minister at many parishes in Ill, Iowa, Minn, Wisc. He was active in the ministry for some 33 years. His first years salary was $25. and had to furnish his own horse for transportation. Christian, Henriette and four youngest children moved to Bath Dakota Territory in 1882 because of poor health, retiring from the ministry. They lived on a farm near Bath.
