Joseph APPLEBY

(19 May 1867 - 29 Dec 1939)

Joseph was a constable in the RIC (Royal Irish Constabulary). He was presumably stationed in the Newtownsandes area when he met his wife, Lily Walsh of Clounprohus. Their first four children were born in Kerry and the remaining five in Cork. The family was living in Castletownsend, Crosshaven, Co. Cork when the 1901 census was carried out and in Macroom at the time of the 1911 census.
