Johanna (Annie) SLATTERY
(7 Dec 1884 - Aft 20 Oct 1938)
According to the 1901 census, Annie was a 16 year-old student in a house on Dirty Lane, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford (this was probably a convent). Somehow she ended up working afterwards as a housekeeper for the parish priest of Moyvane, Co. Kerry, a long distance in those days from her native Co. Waterford.
Annie and her husband, Con, had 14 children (seven boys and seven girls), all but one of whom emigrated (it was Jeremiah who stayed). The family lived in Boolavonteen, Ballinamult for a number of years and in Flowerhill, Lismore, Co. Waterford for a time before returning to north Kerry where they settled in Burntwood, Bedford, Listowel.
