According to his marriage record William was a sailor. I was told by a family source that he and his wife, Harriet, lived in Youghal, Co. Cork after their marriage. However, it appears William emigrated to the United States in 1927, with Harriet following him in 1929 but without their daughter, Violet. They lived in New York City where William worked as a hospital attendant. I was told by another family source that William and Harriet moved to London (directly from the U.S. or from Youghal?) when their younger daughter, Regina (born about 16 years after Violet), was in her late teens. This would have been around 1960. I am presuming Regina moved to London with them. We do not know when William and Harriet left the U.S., nor where Violet was raised.
