Ellen also went by the name of Helen. We know from her marriage certificate that she was from Kilbaha and her father's name was Patrick but we do not know for certain - although it is highly likely - that she was a daughter of Paddy Hanrahan and Margaret O'Connor. I have therefore added the caution.
The 1911 census tells us that Ellen and her husband, John, had been married for 36 years (actually 34) and had 12 children born alive, all of whom were still alive at the time of the census.
