Daniel emigrated to the United States in 1925 and settled in New York. By the time of the 1940 census he was working as a shipping clerk at a paper mill. And, according to a Morrissey family source, Daniel became completely deaf following service in world War II during which he was subjected to the noise of artillery fire. He and his wife, Joan, had no children.
