Edmond MULVIHILL

(Abt 1799 - May 1857)

Edmond, who farmed in Dooncaha, Tarbert, divided his land between his sons Edmond, Patrick and Jeremiah. Some of the property must have been in East Tarmons, which lies adjacent to Dooncaha, as Jeremiah's farm was situated in East Tarmons.

Edmond's family is related to the Mulvihills of Shronowen, Derry and Dirha, (all near Listowel, Co. Kerry), as well as Ballygoughlin (Co. Limerick). There is a large plot in Murhur Cemetery, Moyvane with several headstones of Mulvihills from all the above areas.

It is interesting that Edmond and his wife, Julia, along with various family members are buried, not in Tarbert, but in Murhur Cemetery in Moyvane. Could this indicate that Edmond's family had come from Moyvane (or Newtownsandes as it was then called)?
