According to the 1911 census Cornelius and Mary had been married for 13 years and had 10 children born alive, all of whom were still alive at the time of the census. I think it unusualy fortunate for a family at that time in rural Ireland to have had so many children survive beyond infancy.

Although the household of Mary and Cornelius in the 1911 census shows they were living in the townland of Gortdromasillihy in Moyvane, I am told by a number of sources that the family lived in Kilbaha, Moyvane and it appears the family itself regarded themselves as being from Kilbaha.

Mary died of uterine cancer aged only 38, about three weeks after the birth of her son Maurice.
