Individual Details

Edward R. HUDSON

(Abt 1 Nov 1858 - 24 Feb 1895)

Edward's sponsors at his baptism were James Regan and Mary Galvin.

Edward emigrated to the United States where he lived for some time with his uncle William G. Hudson in Chicago. He was living with William at the time of the 1880 census which also tells us he was 21 at the time and working as a railroad depot labourer. He later worked as a butcher. From Chicago City Directories we can conclude that he left William's home in 1887 or 1888.

Although Edward died in Chicago, he and wife, Sarah, lived in Los Angeles. Edward died less than two years into his marriage. He and Sarah had no children.

In Hudson researcher Bill Hudson's work 'The Hudsons of County Kerry and their Descendants', we are told that Edward was raised by a "mean" uncle in Chicago (that would be William above). We are also told that Edward's marriage to Sarah was not not a happy one [although they were not married long when Edward died].
