William worked for the Munster and Leinster Bank and was manager of the bank's branches in a number of towns, including Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow; Nenagh, Co. Tipperary; and Lismore, Co. Waterford (interestingly, at another time William's brother Edward was also manager of the Lismore branch). In the 1960s William and his wife, Nina, were living at Baymount, The Spa, Tralee, Co. Kerry. They also lived in Limerick and in Quilty, Co. Clare, and by the mid-1970s they had moved to Finnlough, Ballyvalley, Killaloe, Co. Clare.
