Individual Details
James HOGG
(Abt 1803 - 15 May 1893)
According to the marriage certificate of James's daughter Bridget, James was from Cootehall.
Note from Helen: Although neither my husband nor I am blood-related to the Hogg family, two of James's descendants married members of the the O'Hara family of Cootehall to whom my husband is related: James's daughter Brigid married Michael O'Hara and James's grandson Andrew Hogg married Mary Jane O'Hara who was Michael's first cousin twice removed.
I am told that the Hoggs of Cootehall were originally a Protestant family. I am also told that there was a Hogg family from Kilmore, Co. Roscommon who it is known donated money to a Catholic church in the Lake District in the UK . Were the Cootehall Hoggs related to the Kilmore Hoggs?
