Individual Details
Joseph (Joe) P. DOYLE
(21 Oct 1890 - Aft 1960)
Joe and his wife, Gertie, met in St. Vincent's Hospital in Dublin where Joe's father was a patient and Gertie was a nurse. Gertie's aunt Sr. Jerome Gordon, who also worked in the hospital, apparently engineered their union: she instructed Gertie to look after Joe's father after Gertie's first cousin Kathleen O'Hara, a previous carer of Joe's father, had married Joe's brother Arthur (a result, it is believed, of another match-making effort by Sr. Jerome).
Joe was a doctor. He and Gertie, who had no children, moved to London. The 1939 Register tells us they were living at 40 Melbourne Avenue, Ealing at that time.
