Patrick (Pat) HUDSON

( - 17 Feb 2000)

Pat lived in Kilbaha before moving to live with his brother Jim at Knockbrane (or Knockbrean) Cross in Lixnaw, Co. Kerry. Neither Pat nor Jim ever married.

Pat appears to have been a significant point of contact for Hudson researcher Bill Hudson who has contributed an enormous amount of information to our Hudson family tree. According to Bill's notes, "While on a visit to Dublin, I saw this book ["County Kerry - Past and Present" by J. King, published by Hodges Figgis & Co., 1931] in Dublin Castle and discovered on page 176, the mention of two Hudson families. While I had been in Tralee in 1929 when my Father called on one Richard Hudson solicitor there (who later proved to be a third cousin), I had never heard of Kilbaha. Procuring Ordnance maps of the area, I hired a car and driver and... I landed up in Kilbaha, near Newton Sandes (now Moyvane) on 27 May 1956 and met Patrick Hudson [above] who had just come home from the creamery and who introduced me to his 78 year old Father John (Jack) Hudson. Later I drove up the hill to meet the Ned Hudsons [presumably Jack's first cousin Ned Hudson who was married to Hannie Hanrahan, herself a Hudson descendant]. From that point, I was hooked and the rest is history".
