Individual Details

Hanora (Nora) THORNTON

(31 May 1903 - 18 May 1984)

Nora's baptismal sponsors were Patrick Barrett and Catherine Brosnan.

Nora emigrated to the United States in September 1924. She was 21 years of age. The ship manifest tells us she was joining a sister, "Miss M. Thornton" (presumably Mamie) in New York City. It is thought she might subsequently have lived in Chicago for a time. She eventually returned to Ireland where she married and raised a family in Dirreen, Athea.

I have been told that a relative of Nora's was a Titanic survivor but I have no further information.
