Individual Details
(17 Feb 1891 - 20 Nov 1968)
William grew up in South Philadelphia. He graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Princeton University in 1914. During World War II he served as an ensign in the Navy, after which he returned to engineering work. In 1923 he settled in Owings Mills, Maryland; and in 1926 he switched career and went into investment banking, eventually setting up his own company. He retired in 1959.
William's son Bill remembered his parents taking him and his brother Paul on a trip to Europe as children (from passenger lists on the Ancestry wbsite I have since discovered that this was in 1929). They visited Ireland where he remembers meeting relatives, including members of the Tralee Hudson family (who lived on Strand St.). William later named his newly-built home on Caves Road in Owings Mills 'Tralee' after his relatives' home town.
