Eddie and his wife, Delia, purchased a farm in Eden, Fairymount, Co. Roscommon in the late 1950s. In the mid 1960s they purchased a second farm in Clerragh from John and Annie (née Gordon) Maxwell. Although there was a better house on the Clerragh farm, Eddie and Delia continued to live in Eden.
