I have no proof that John was a brother of my husband's (Joe Gordon) 3rd great-grandmother Catherine Jones. However, my husband and two cousins who are also descended from Catherine have been DNA-matched by Ancestry with several descendants of John's. It is reasonable to assume the connection is through the Jones family, especially as the Jones families of both John and Catherine came from Co. Kerry. However, John's family was Protestant, while we believe Catherine's family to have been Catholic (as she married a Catholic). Further research needs to be carried out in this regard.
John farmed in Kielduff, near Tralee, Co. Kerry. Note that I have seen Kielduff spelled as both Kilduff and Keelduff.
