Individual Details
(1925 - 1972)
When Tom left school, he studied engineering but abandoned his course during World War II to enlist in the RAF. Because of a minor sight defect he was not accepted for training as a pilot; instead he served with the ground force of the RAF and spent time in Burma. After the war, with RAF funding, he studied medicine at Trinity College Dublin and qualified as a doctor. He later moved to England where he worked as a GP in Staffordshire. Tom was only about 47 years of age when he died.
