As the Gunn name is very rare in Kerry, it is likely David was connected to the Gunn family of Rattoo, Co. Kerry. In case it is useful to Gunn researchers, in his book 'County Kerry Past and Present', Jeremiah King gives the lineage of a William Gunn, born in Rattoo in 1902: "Wm. of Lisahane in 1641 had Wm. of Rattoo 1699, who had Wm., who had Townsend, who had Wm. 1765, who had Townsend 1803, who had Wilson 1809, who had Hy. 1842, who had Wm. of Rattoo 1902". However, there appears to be an error here in that the Townsend who was born in 1803 could not have had Wilson in 1809.
