Myles CUNNINGHAM

(Poss Jan 1777 - Bef 1 Mar 1879)

Please see my notes on Myles's probable father, Bryan, regarding Myles's possible date and place of birth.

Myles, who farmed in Kilbaha, Newtownsandes (now known as Moyvane), Co. Kerry, moved from Co. Limerick to north Kerry either with his family as a child, or as a young man. Seeing that his brother Daniel also settled in Kilbaha, and his probable brother John also settled in north Kerry (in Irremore near Listowel) I am inclined to think the entire family moved to Karry when the brothers were children.

Myles and his wife, Johanna, had a son and seven daughters, all of whom married and remained in the parish of Newtownsandes. Everyone in the area knew of the seven daughters because it so unusual to have seven sisters all married and living in the parish at the same time.

Parish records have been located (on www.irishgenealogy.ie) for several Cunninghams with Kilbaha connections who may be related to Myles:

A Mary Cunningham of Kilbaha married a Daniel Mangan in Moyvane on 29 July 1843. Witnesses were Thomas Mulvihill and George Mahony. Baptismal records have been located (on www.irishgenealogy.ie) for an Elizabeth and Daniel Cunningham, children of a James Cunningham and a Hanora Thornton of Kilbaha. Elizabeth was baptised on 7 December 1841 (sponsors were Michael Thornton and Mary Thornton) and Daniel on 18 May 1844 (with sponsors Daniel Cunningham and Honora Cunningham).
