Cornelius SHANAHAN (caution: relationship to John not verified)

(Abt 22 Jul 1814 - 29 May 1882)

I have been DNA-matched by Ancestry with great-great-grandchildren of Cornelius. The exact type of relationship between them and me has not been determined but it appears I could be their fourth cousin, which would make Cornelius above a brother of my great-great-grandfather John. However, because this is not 100% certain I have added a caution.

Cornelius's baptismal sponsors were James Shanahan and Honora Condon.

Cornelius was a farmer and shopkeeper/publican. Although he appears to have lived in Moyvane village he died in Dooncaha, Tarbert. Had he moved there or had he been taken ill there? Cornelius's death must have been sudden and unexpected as an inquest was held (on 31 May 1882) which found that he had died of natural causes.
