Ann LEANE/LANE

Ann was also known as Anna. Following the birth of their third child in 1858 Ann and her husband, Thomas, emigrated to Australia. They left their eldest two children, Johanna and Michael, back in Ireland and departed for Australia from Liverpool on the "Albion" with infant Patrick Sadly, Patrick died at sea in July 1858 from convulsions.
Ann and Thomas arrivied in Australia in September, 1858. Michael and Johannah did not follow until five years later, arriving in Australia on 8 June 1863 on the "Bates Family" in the company of a single woman named Mary Doherty.
Ann and Thomas had another four children following their arrival in Australia. The family lived in the Carlton area of Melbourne.
