Individual Details
James HELBERT
( - )
Helbert is an unusual name. There are entries in Griffith's Valuation for Helberts, mostly in Kilteevin (Castlerea) but there are no returns for any Helberts in the 1901 census. By the time of the 1911 census, however, there are at least three Helbert families living in Co. Roscommon. Census details of one of these families, which appears to be that of James above, follow:
James (70), widower
Michael (28), son
Catherine (30), daughter-in-law
Michael (1), grandson
Thomas (3 months), grandson
Michael and Catherine had been married for three years and had two children born alive, both of whom were alive at the time of the census.
