William Patrick Joseph GREGORY-COLEMAN

William, a member of the Royal Australian Air Force, was killed in action aged 21 during World War II. He was a gunner on a plane that took off from RAF Scranton, Lincolnshire on 7 September 1942 and headed for Duisburg in Germany. During the bombing raid the plane received three direct hits but the pilot managed to fly it back to England, belly landing at RAF Martlesham Heath. William had been severely wounded in the attack and did not survive the journey. He was pronounced dead at Martlesham Heath.
