Catherine joined the Sisters of Providence religious order, as her aunt Mary Booker had done before her. Sr. Catherine received a bachelor’s degree in education from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana and a master’s degree at Loyola University, Los Angeles. She taught in Indiana, Illinois, California, Washington D.C., Florida, Oklahoma; and from 1972 to 1977 she taught in Taiwan.
