James (Jim) B. RUANE

Jim was a professor of agriculture at UCD (University College Dublin). He was instrumental in strengthening the connection between the family of his wife, Linda (Gordon) and the New Zealand branch of her family tree. As part of his job as President of the Irish Wool Board Jim visited New Zealand - probably in the 1970s - and while there looked up Linda's cousins, resulting in many visits between the families since then. Jim may also have visited Australia on the same trip and reestablished a connection with the Australian branch of the family too as a reconnection was made with the Australian Gordons in Perth around the same time.
