Individual Details

Mary Collins

(1698 - 18 November 1766)

Mary and Samuel had eight children all born in Salisbury, Massachusetts but the family then relocated to New Hampshire. Actually, they did not relocate. In 1741, the province line between Massachusetts and New Hampshire was drawn and they happened to wind up in New Hampshire.

She does not seem to be the daughter of Samuel Collins and Sarah White. However, Samuel and Sarah did have a daughter Miriam, and since Mary and Samuel named their oldest daughter Miriam, it makes you wonder. Sarah dies in 1732 and Samuel remarried Esther Goodale in 1734 at Andover?? On the other hand, Samuel and Sarah seem to be having children about the right time.

There is a Mary Collins daughter of John born in 1696 in Salem.

Samuel French is one of the signers (as an heir representative) on probate records for Benjamin Collins (widow is Mehitable) who died in 1744 in Salisbury. (But some of those things seem to be guardianship papers so will need to look them over more carefully.) The Mehitable was Mehitable Woster and married in 1722. The only other marriage for a Benjamin record in Salisbury is 1668.
