About THOMAS ACKEN the Greaves manuscript in the Westfield NJ Public Library says the following: "Thomas Acken seems to have been the ancestor of the family in New Jersey. He lives somewhere between Westfield & Rahway and died in 1743. Letters of administration upon his estate were granted to Elizabeth Lambert (widow of his son John) and her husband James Lambert. In this will he mentions his sons Joseph, John, Samuel, Robert, daughter Mary and grandson John son of his son John." About his family it says: "Thomas Acken d.1743. m. Mary. Children 1. Joseph, 2. John d 1746 m. Elizabeth, 3. Samuel, 4. Robert, 5. Mary m. ..... Littell."

Death
His will was written in 1741, the estate inventory was done in 1743, and the will was probated in 1748.Thomas Acken will abstract:
1741, July 31. Arken, Thomas, of Elizabeth Town and Ash Swamp. Essex Co.—will of. Wife Mary. Sons—Joseph, John, Samuel and Robert. Daughter—Mary Little. Grandchild—John Acken son of son John. Real and personal estate. Executors: friends Isaac Frasey and Samuel Hinds. Witnesses—John Scuder, Ezekiah Hubbell, Nath'll Hubbell. Proved Feb. 10, 1747-8.
1747-8, Feb. 10. The executors within named having refused to act and the widow being also deceased, Elizabeth Lambert, principal creditor,appointed administrator. 1751, July 13. James Lambert, husband of the above said Elizabeth, testifies to the foregoing.
