Individual Details
(1561 - 1616)
Edward was the son of John Frost and Ann Scott, baptized on March 13, 1561 at Glemsford. Edward became a clothier, as was his father. A clothier was a middleman in the manufacture of woolen cloth, the principal industry of England at the time. A clothier would buy wool on the sheep, then have the shearing, spinning and weaving done by private contractors. He then arranged the sale of the finished product. Most clothiers also had a shop from which they sold cloth, clothing and supplies.
