Francis Newcomb

(1605 - 27 May 1692)

Francis Newcomb was a husbandman who is listed on the passenger list of the Planter this way: "husbandman Francis Newcom," aged 30, and "wife & 2 children Rachell Newcom," aged 20, "Rachell Newcom," aged 2½, and "Jo[hn] Newcome," aged 9 months, were enrolled at London as passengers for New England on the Planter). The family first settled in Boston and later moved to Braintree. The following statement was included with his death record: "Francis Nucom who was accounted an hundred years old died upon the 27th day of May 1692" at Braintree. (Judging by the age on the passenger list in 1635 and the date of marriage, this age at death is exaggerated by more than a decade.)
