July 12, 1950

Caroline Eicher Wyse daughter of Martin and Barbara Roth Eicher was born on a farm north of Noble Iowa 4/25/1872. She accepted Christ as her personal savior in her youth and united with the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church of which she remained a member until the time of her death.

On Feb 1, 1893 she was united in marriage to Simon P. Wyse and together they shared the joys and sorrows of life for 57 years. This union was blessed with two sons and two daughters; Fred L from Wauseon, Ohio; Oletta at home; Leonard R of Mt. Pleasant, and Alta wife of T. W. Stewart of San Diego Calif.

Several years ago she suffered a paralytic stroke from which she never fully recovered. However, she was able to be up and about most of the time. Fred came from Ohio to spend the weekend with his mother, so he with other members of the family spent a pleasant Sunday afternoon together. When they were leaving she stepped to the door to see them off and somehow lost her balance and fell down the steps fracturing her skull. She never regained consciousness but passed away 2 hours later at age 70 years 2 months 14 days. She was preceded in death by her husband by only four and one/half months. He passed away February 23. Her parents, four brothers, four sisters, and one grandson also preceded her in death. Those left to mourn are her two sons, two daughters, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers, Daniel Eicher of Milford and William Eicher of Wayland Iowa, two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Boshart of Wayland, Iowa and Barbara wife of Peter Conrad Smithville, Ohio besides many other relatives and funeral.

The funeral services were held Thursday July 13 at 2:00 at the Sugar Creek Church, Wayland, Iowa. Conducted by Revs Simon Gingerich and Vernon Roth. The same casket bearers were selected as those serving at the funeral of her husband who preceded her in death only 4 months and 15 days and included Henry Graber, Harvey Eicher, Ray Wyse, Clarence Wyse, Lester Krabill, and Arthur Boshart. Interment was at Sugar Creek and Stacy Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements. Several years ago Mrs. Wyse requested her funeral service be taken from the 23rd Psalm. She also expressed the desire to have the hymn ``Come Angel Band´´ sang at her services. It was the hymn sang for her father´s funeral 66 years ago.

Among those attending were Katie and Ed Miller of Beaver Crossing; Nebraska.

Submitter is second great grand-niece of Caroline Eicher Wyse.
