From Historical Altas of World and Fulton Co. (pg. 33): Caleb J. Vaughan enlisted in Company I, 38th Regiment O.V.I. in 1861, served three years and was always with his regiment and ready for duty. He was honorably discharged at the close of the war. From Military Records of Ohio pg 303 enlisted at Ai 4 Sept 1861 Co I 38th OVI det. guard headquarters train 1864 discharged at Atlanta GA Sept 13,1864
