Notes on Willard Ancestry The parents of Maj. Simon WILLARD are uncertain, being reported as Richard and Margery WILLARD, and as Simon WILLARD and Margery HUMPHRIES. Sources agree that Margery (WILLARD) DAVIS was the sister of Maj. Simon WILLARD. Margery - b. Nov. 6, 1602, Kent, England; d. after Jul. 1658, Massachusetts. Margery signed a deed on Jul. 17, 1658 for the sale of land at Barnstable, Massachusetts. Married Mar. 29, 1624 in England to Dolar DAVIS (b. 1583, England; d. Jun. 16, 1673, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts). Dolar, a master builder, arrived in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1634, and lived subsequently at Duxbury in 1635, Barnstable in 1643 and 1666, and Concord in 1655. He was secretary to the first colonial governor of Massachusetts. Dolar was married second in 1671 to Mrs. Joanna BURSLEY. Children of Margery and Dolar: John married Hannah LINNELL; Elizabeth; Mary married Thomas LEWIS; Simon married Mary BLOOD; Samuel married first Mary MEADOW, and second Ruth TAYLOR; and Ruth married Stephen HALL.
