Family History: New England Families #2 August 13, 1696. He married, June 23, 1659. Mary, daughter of William and Rachel Barnes. She survived him many years, and it is probable that she is the Granny Hoyt who tried the experiment of using the powderhorn in kindling the fire and thus gave rise to the expression current among her descendants: 'Quick as Granny Hoyt's powder-horn.'
