'John, by his naming a son, and by selling 'Mosquito Hall,' a large tract on Great Isl., it is conject. that he came on 'The Warwick'. From Great Isl. he removed to Sturgeon Creek on invitation of John Treworgye, representing Mr. Alex. Shapleigh. Goodwife Heard kept Mr. Treworgye's ho. while her husb. was building their ho. at the Creek. Altho on the Me. side of the river, he joined the Dover Combin. in 1640. He was always a devoted henchman of Maj. Shapleigh and was punished with him for opposing Mass. and for entert. Quakers. He was usually selectm. with Maj. Shapl. and in 1659 Com. t.e.s.c. Tr. j. 1640, 1645, 1647, 1650; Gr. j. 1645, 1649-51, 1653.' Surname sometimes recorded as 'Hord'.
