Evans Wilson

(Abt 1796 - 15 Jan 1872)

Coos Cty, N.H. GenWeb: to Earl Pike: The Evans Family was from both Gorham, and Shelburne, N.H. The Bray family was from Maine; my Great,gr.gr. grandmother was Sarah Sawyer Bray of Cape Elizabeth, wife of John Mariner. She died when Rachel Mariner was born and it was grandchildren who married into the Evans Family: two Evans sisters, married to two Randall brothers; the families visited back and forth, I was told by late Rose Leighton, of Gorham, N.H. who is also buried in Evans Cemetary in Gorham. Rev. Ezeikel Evans (spelled wrong) was in Randolph Church, check the Old and New Book on Randolph, by George N. Cross. Perhaps the Deacon Evans Wilson is listed at a local church also. lalianne@Yahoo.com Coos Cty, N.H. GenWeb: to Earl Pike: More information found in the Coos History Book, 1888 page 893 and 898 on Deacon Evans Wilson (C.1834) he owned the first house this side of the Randolph line, according to Dr. True; meaning on Gorham side of the Hill. Simon Evans came to Gorham in 1815 with six children. Abram Wilson lived in a little log hut on the bank near the Congregational Church, had eight children. Elijah Evans lived in a little cabin near Hitchcock's barn, and had six children. One family of Indians lived in the pines near Moose river bridge, this was John Mitchell, wife, and three children. This found on page 894, Coos History Book, of 1888. lalianne@Yahoo.com theboynes1added this on 4 Feb 2010 Category Type: Portrait / Family Photo I've always been told this is my father's great-grandparents on his mother's side, which makes this Evans and Annie. If I'm wrong, I hope someone will please let me know. The photo is printed on glass and old want ads lie under the leather cover. I believe this is an ambrotype, so it may have been made between 1854 and 1865.
