William Pabody

(Abt 1645/46 - Mar 1699)

'Was a soldier in Capt. Joseph Gardner's company from Salem in King Philip's War, in 1676; his father alludes in his will to William's having lost an arm, but does not say when it was lost. He received a grant of land on account of his military services in the township afterward called 'Narragansett, Number 3,' later incorporated as Amherst, New Hampshire, the part in which his land was being still later set off as Milford, New Hampshire; there his son Stephen and a line of descendants lived during many years. William was made a freeman of the colony July 21, 1685. Was one of the selectman of Boxford for several years. He died March 6, 1699/1700; the widow died Feb 23, 1733.'
