Thomas Perley

(1640/41 - Bet 24 Sep 1708 and 1709)

2. Who was the 2nd husband of Lydia (Peabody) Howlet (c1640-?1715), daughter of Francis the immigrant? Her first died Dec 1667 in Ipswich, Massachusetts, and she was called 'Lydia Perley' in Francis's will of 1698. John F. Chandler Response: I have from article in New England Historical and Genealogical Register Vol. 2 April 1848 'The Peabody Family' that Lydia was b. 1654 and m. Jacob Perley. Nancy Ulrich Response: I saw a question about the 2nd husband of Lydia Peabody Howlett who md. Perley; so many people get the wrong information in their hands and end up showing that Lydia Peabody, born 1654 who md. Jacob Perley was the d/o Francis. First of all, does it seem logical that he would have two daughters living by the name of Lydia and who md. a Mr. Perley? Information I have gives the baptism date of Lydia, d/o Francis and Lydia, as 30th of the 6th mo: 1640; she was md. to THOMAS Perley on 8 Jul 1868. To my knowledge, so far no one has been able to identify who the other Lydia belonged to. I believe the rumor that she was the d/o Francis started w/William Richard Cutter. Olive Hoffman
