Edna Lee (Blair) Horton Watts, age 98, of Harrison, died Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Highlands of Harrison at Tims.
She was born September 11, 1916, at Leslie, Arkansas, the daughter of Sam S. and Ola Shipman Blair. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ogal Horton; and by her second husband, Fred Watts, whom she married November 19, 1977, in Marshall, Arkansas.
Lee was a member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church in Harrison where she taught the Deborah Sunday School Class and was president of the Baptist Women for many years. She was a graduate of Marshall High School and John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She taught at Marshall, Clinton, Pine Bluff, and Stuttgart schools and Capitol City Business College in Little Rock.
Lee was the first employee of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Arkansas; started the women's department at the Arkansas Lighthouse for the Blind in Little Rock; was an accountant for McDonald-Douglass Aircraft in Memphis during World War II; and held several other jobs in Tennessee and Texas. Lee was always proud to say that she was never without a job during her working lifetime. During her full life, Lee enjoyed her church, Razorback sports, fishing, playing bridge, cooking, and reading.
Survivors include two step-sons, Donnie Watts and wife Bobbye of Pearcy, Arkansas and Mike Watts and wife Ronda of Jonesboro, Arkansas; two grandsons, Marshall Watts of Queens, New York and Murray Watts and wife Laken of Paragould, Arkansas; and one great-grandson, Mack Alexander Watts, of Paragould, Arkansas. Lee also leaves behind one sister, Louise Love, of Triangle, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 2:00-4:00PM, Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Monday, December 8, 2014, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Bro. Glenn Crenshaw officiating.
Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Marshall, Arkansas, following the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Joel Brown, Ronnie Ramsey, Boyd Massengale, Jack Massengale, Jess Myatt and Tom Moore Ramsey.
Honorary pallbearers are the Deborah Sunday School Class and the Harrison Bridge Club.
