Cunegonda of Altdorf

Also known as Cunizza "dei Welfen" , [1] was the daughter of Guelfo II of Altdorf and Imiza of Luxembourg and descendant of the noble Welfen family; she was the sister of Guelph III , duke of Carinthia and marquis of Verona . The name Cunegonda was imposed on her, perhaps in honor of her aunt, Cunegonda of Luxembourg , empress of Germany and saint.
He married Alberto Azzo II , marquis d ' Este , bringing possessions in Solesino , near Este , as a dowry. From this union was born Guelph IV , future Duke of Bavaria and progenitor of the House of Guelphs .
She died in 1057 and was buried in the Abbey of the Vangadizza next to her husband.
