John Flatt

John Flatt and his wife Patience owned the Flatt Caves, now known as the Mammoth Caves in Mammoth National Park, located in central Kentucky. Mammoth Cave is the longest known cave system in the world. The Flatts moved to Kentucky in 1789. The cave is located primarily in Edmonson County, with parts of it extending into Hart County, and Barren County, where the Flatts resided.
From "Revolutionary Census of New Jersey" taken in 1778-1785. Federal Census do not exist for New Jersey between 1790-1820. Most records were destroyed or taken by Loyalists during Revolutionary War. The only records left were tax records from 1773-1822.
