Hermann II, Count of Ravensberg
( - 22 Apr 1221)
According to Wikipedia:
Hermann II of Ravensberg († April 22, 1221 ) was Count of Ravensberg from 1170 .
He was a son of Count Otto I von Ravensberg and Oda. Hermann II went over to the opponents of Henry the Lion and thus came particularly against Lippe. In 1198 he was the only Westphalian count to stand firmly with the Hohenstaufen in the war of the throne . Around 1215 he gained the office of Vlotho from the Archbishop of Cologne. He (or Otto I?) Founded the Flaesheim monastery . Around 1214 he made Bielefeld a city. He continued the devastating feuds against Tecklenburg, suffered a heavy defeat in 1202 and thereby lost many episcopal fiefs and rights.
