Notes
Burial
Obituary: Alice Spell Hoffpauir was born on January 25, 1888. She was the sixth of ten children born to Jasper and Elizabeth Willis Spell. She was married to the Reverend Lewis Hoffpauir on January 16,1907, at Indian Bayou, Louisiana. Mrs. Hoffpauir was a faithful and helpful companion to her husband throughout his ministry serving in Bell City in Louisiana, then Evangeline, Mississippi for two years before returning to Louisiana where he held pastorates in Sulphur, Coushatta, Lafayette, West Monroe, Homer, Ruston, Haynesville, New Iberia and Crowley. Her first interest was her home and family, but she found time to be an effective worker in almost every phase of church work. She will long be remembered by those whose lives were filled with joy through her influence. On August 5, 1970, she died in Ruston, Louisiana; returning home to her loved ones and her Christ whom she served so faithfully and so well. Funeral services were held in the Henning Memorial United Methodist Church, and burial was in Mimose Pines Cemetery in Sulphur. Mrs. Hoffpauir is survived by two sons: Claude and Hebert Hoffpauir; two daughters: Mrs. George Hubbard, Ruston, and Mrs. H. S. Heaton, Los Angeles, California; and one sister, Miss Mamie Spell of Dallas, Texas. Source: Journal Louisiana Conference, 1971; p. 197Endnotes
