LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Covenant United Methodist Church in Lafayette for Michael "Mike" Russell Wade, 58, who died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The Rev. Willis Dear and the Rev. Lorris Wimberly will officiate at the services. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the service. Mr. Wade was born Feb. 18, 1945, in Jackson, Miss., and had resided in Lafayette since he was six weeks old. He was vice president of Gulf Environmental Technology Inc. here in Lafayette. Mike, a broadcaster for many years, in television and radio, was affiliated with KLFY TV10 and KLNI Channel 15. At. KLFY, Mike was the local MC for the Jerry Lewis Telethon. He was the voice of the Comeaux High School Spartans Football games. Mike was also a lifetime member of the NRA, past director of the Alleman Center, and very actively involved at Covenant United Methodist Church where he served the Lord. He was loved by many people and will be missed deeply. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Virginia Hoffpauir Wade, of Lafayette; his mother, Mayron Lorraine Cook Wade, of Katy, Texas; one son, Kyle Michael Wade, of Lafayette; one daughter, Kara Wade Leonards and her husband, Russell, of Lafayette; one grandson, Wyatt Leonards, of Lafayette; one granddaughter, Amber Wade, of Lafayette; one brother, Patrick Dale Wade, of Houston; one niece, Erin Wade, of Dallas, Texas; and one nephew, Taylor Wade, of Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Vaulton Russell Wade. Pallbearers will be Joe Winkler, Danny Griffith, Ron LeBlanc, Don Carey, Mike Stelly and Charles White. For those preferring memorials, contributions can be made to charity of your choice. Funeral home visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
