Obituary: Ray Gerald Collins, 93, of Lake Charles died Wednesday, May 26, 2010 in a local hospital. Mr. Collins was born in Lake Arthur, raised in Crowley and has lived the past forty years in Lake Charles. He worked as an electrician for sixty years and was a member of the Lake Charles and Lafayette Chapters of IBEW Local Union #861. Mr. Collins enjoyed joking with everyone, woodworking and every minute of fishing he could get in at Toledo Bend. He will be most remembered, rocking on the front porch with a cup of coffee. He leaves to honor his memory, Robert Collins and wife Dee Dee of Lake Charles, Charles Collins and wife Agnes of Crowley and Michael Collins and wife Amzi of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one brother, Harold Collins and wife Leola of Hitchcock, TX. He also leaves a special group of caregivers, Earlene, Lorrie, Linda, Jean, Georgia, Angela and Emma, whom the family would like to thank for their excellence in care and compassion. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Melba Nugent Collins; parents, Bert and Elizabeth Hoffpauir Collins; two brothers, Gene and Claude Collins and three sisters, Pearl Davis, Clara Buller and Tessie Duke. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 29, 2010 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Shannon Collins will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Friday will be from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Saturday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home
