Local man killed in auto accident; a 28-year-old Lafayette man was thrown from his car and killed Wednesday night or Thursday morning in a single-car accident on Doc Duhon road near La. 734, Sheriff's department officials said.
Marc J. Hoffpauir, 28, 219 1/2 Grand Ave., was found dead in a field off of Duhon road at 9:02 A. M. Thursday, said Sheriff's chief of staff Gerorge Armbruster. Sheriff's detectives speculate that Hoffpauir was westbound on Duhon when his car apparently crossed La. 724, continued through a private drive, struck a tree and stopped in the field, armbruster said. Hoffpauir
was ejected from the car.
The accident is believed to have occurred in the early morning hours Thursday, Armbruster said. Workers from a nearby business noticed the vehicle and contacted the Sheriff's department.
