Obituary: CROWLEY - funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Crowley for Herbert D. Morgan, Sr. 83, who died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at the American Legion Hospital in Crowley. Mr. Morgan was a veteran of World War II having served his country in the U. S. Army. He worked for Superior Oil and Mobil having retired in 1985 after thirty-five years. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church. He was actively involved in the Men's Brotherhood of First Baptist Church. Mr. Morgan served as a baseball score keeper for many years at the Crowley Recreation department. Rev. Roger Tarver and Rev. Glen Howie will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Thursday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to service time at First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Joyce Murrell Morgan of Crowley; five daughters, Cynthia M. Broussard and her husband Ben of Crowley; Yvette M. Quebedeaux and her husband Glenn of Crowley, Vonne Morgan of Houston, TX, Rhonda M. Spallino of Maurice, Roxanne Morgan of Atlanta, GA.; three sons, Dana Morgan and his wife Bobbie of Lake Charles, Herbert "Del" Morgan and his wife Connie of Charlestown, WV, Terry Morgan of Crowley; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shelby M. Fortenberry and her husband Doyle of Bossier City, Charlotte M. Hollingsworth and her husband Boyce of Sulphur; three brothers, Thurman Morgan and his wife Audrey of Alexandria, Sheron Morgan and his wife Marguerite of Crowley, Hoyt Morgan of Crowley. Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Vadie Hoffpauir Morgan; one sister, Helen M. Dailey; two brothers, Farrell Morgan and Rayford Morgan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley.
