William Cady
( - )
Those with connection to William M. Cady, son of Manasseh Cady and Octavia Dubose and my great-uncle, may be interested in the following info I found on-line recently. I knew that William Cady had owned lumber companies in LA and Arizona with a Mr. McNary. However, he also provided capital for Andrew Higgins and was in business with him early in the 1900s. He also seems to be as much of a "wheeler-dealer" as Mr. Higgins was. The info is contained in a book entitled "Andrew Jackson Higgins and the Boats That Won World war II", written by Jerry E. Strahan. After I purchased the book, I found that all of the info related to WM Cady had been printed on the internet and thus was very accessible. I highly recommend the book to anyone interested in the Higgins Shipyards in New Orleans during WWII; My father was employed there all during the war as were many Louisiana men. Their work has been recognized in the WWII Museum in N.O. where a section is devoted to those shipyards.
