Burial
Obituary: Joseph Lawrence Hornsby left this world to meet our Lord on Friday, October 30, 2009 at his residence in Crowley, Louisiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 2, 2009 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Fr. Matthew Higginbotham will celebrate the Mass and the committal services at the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation may be observed from 2:00 p.m. Saturday until 8:00 p.m., Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Saturday and 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Joseph was born on October 20, 1951. Joe spent most of his working career in the rice industry and was very respected amongst his peers throughout the industry worldwide. He was especially proficient at grading rice and was top in the Grain grading division two years running at the Crowley Rice Festival. That was just one of many accomplishments of Joe's life. The comfort of his beautiful voice soothed numerous local parishioners at mass throughout many church parishes. When singing at special occasions, Joe made every effort to bring holiness and happiness to make every special occasion memorable. Joe's spirit was so loving and giving that his passing on to meet the Lord will leave many longing for his presence. Leaving to remember and miss him always is the love of his life, Mary Hoffpauir Hornsby, his daughter Brooke H. Kurtz, his son Joseph Lawrence Hornsby , son-in-law John Kurtz and four grandchildren who were truly the heart of Poppie's life, Morgan, Alex, Madison and Nathan Kurtz. He is also survived by his brother Aaron Hornsby and wife Barbara ,sister-in-law Rose Hornsby, and Joe's special friend, his Mother-in-Law, Mrs. Doyle Hoffpauir. Also mourning his loss are his brothers-in-law, Robert Hoffpauir and wife Leila, Louis Hoffpauir and wife Vicki, Billy Hoffpauir and wife Sue and the many nieces and nephews and Ashley Bealer special friend of the family who loved and will miss Pa'Joe.
