Death
Obituary: SUPHUR - Donita Lane Gray Burton, 59, passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, in the Sulphur hospital. Donita was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served as the Good Citizenship chairperson for 15 years. She was actively involved in the Artists Civic Theatre group, where she participated in plays and assisted with costume and stage design as well as makeup. Donita was instrumental in the coordination of the Acadia Parish After School Acting Classes. In addition to being involved in many community and civic organizations, she was an archaeologist for eight years, serving as the past secretary for the Louisiana State Archaeological Society. Donita enjoyed photography, gardening, and shopping but, most of all, she cherished her time with family, especially her grandchildren. Her loving family includes her husband of 40 years, Tom Burton; daughter, Kayla Gibson and her husband, Bo; son, Jeremy Burton and his wife, Mary Ellen; grandchildren, Jack, Joseph and Judson Gibson, Cullen and Timothy, Daniel, Lane and Julianna Burton; father, Clark Gray, Sr. and stepmother Gloria Gray; sister, Cathy Gray Richard; and brothers, Clark Gray Jr. and Earl Gray. She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Jeffers gray. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, from Our Lady Prompt Succor Catholic Church under direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Celebrants will be Monsignor Charles Dubois and Father Ernie Courville. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines cemetery in Carlyss. Visitation in the funeral home will be 5-9 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. scriptural rosary service led by Deacon Jack Reynolds, and 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, with assistance from her son, son-in-law, nephews and brothers-in-law. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Grimball and Dr. Gonzales for their faithful and attentive care to Donita, as well as to the West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital's ICU team, emergency room staff and ambulance and emergency medical technician crews for their compassion and dedicated service.
